This can cause damage to the focusing optics, auxiliary equipment mounted near the machine, burn the fiber lines themselves and in the worst-case harm the operator. Aluminum also needs very high energy and narrow beam size to ensure the material absorbs enough energy to coalesce (come together) effectively.
