Laser Additive and Cladding
Laser cladding – also known as laser metal deposition, LMD, Hardfacing or Directed Energy Deposition (DED) – protects, restores, and strengthens the surfaces of metal components. Our solutions improve wear resistance, protect from corrosion and erosion, and return parts to as-new condition.
We can help you through feasibility, qualification, serial production and on-site vertical integration. Our annual powder deposition amounts now exceed 32 tons.
We currently offer laser metal deposition applications for part sizes that range from ounces to tons, having lengths over 20 feet.
Hardfacing and Corrosion Resistant Overlay
Laser hardfacing applies a harder, tougher material to a base metal to improve wear performance and extend service life.
A thick layer (3 mm or 1/8 in.) of coating is applied to the surface of equipment to provide a corrosion – and erosion – resistant surface.

Restoration and Fabrication
Laser metal deposition can be used to restore the original dimensions of a component for parts that are expensive to replace or are no longer available.
Using laser metal deposition, we can build up rough profiles (up to 3.5” thick) that can be machined to final dimensions.
Internal Diameter Cladding
ID cladding applies corrosion and wear-resistant coatings to the internal surfaces of tubes, pipes and other hard-to-reach places increasing strength, reliability, and longevity. By fusing dissimilar metals, the structural integrity of pipes, tubes, and other components located in areas that may present issues in the future is maximized.
- Increased temperature thresholds
- Increased corrosion resistance
- Decreased part erosion
- Increased pressure thresholds
Component Repair
When a metal part has been damaged during machining, transit, or by any other means, it can be costly. Through our laser cladding and metal component repair processes, we can often repair broken parts, saving both time and money.
