Joining Technologies’ electron welding program meets stringent standards for quality. The program is accredited by Nadcap (the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Association). It holds the AS9100 certification for aerospace quality system requirements; the ASME BPVC (Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code) certification; and the ISO 13485 (quality management systems for medical devices) certification.
One major benefit of electron beam welding is that it’s a highly dependable process. It is well-suited for close tolerance parts with very sensitive or challenging requirements.
Another benefit is that distortion and shrinkage are minimized with electron beam welds ― an important consideration when welding delicate parts.
The nature of the low-heat, precise electron beam provides benefits in several ways. Electron beam welding applications can take place next to heat-vulnerable materials ― such as plastics or electronics ― without damaging those heat-vulnerable materials. Where the electron beam contacts metal or other solid materials, the kinetic energy of the electrons is transferred as heat, resulting in a very fine, deep weld with minimal loss of material.
